What's your favourite scent??

Mine has to be citrus, and the day I found the Lush Happy Hippy shower gel was a good one! I thought the dreary January weather was the perfect time for me to share a bright and zesty way to start your day.

I'm never sure what to think when others put up haul posts, sometimes I think it's an excuse to show how much money you have to spend on things you don't need...but then why shouldn't you buy what YOU want with YOUR money?! Maybe that question is a whole post in itself!

I realised I'd bought a few things from Lush in the last few weeks and what other word was there to call it but a haul? I've really been enjoying using them all as they aren't products or scents I have tried before so I wanted to share my thoughts.

I've been crazy busy the last few weeks and haven't any chance to get any posts up, I will be making a huge effort to catch up this week to redeem myself.

A few weeks ago on a Lush spree I picked up the Happy Hippy shower gel. I can't believe I have never tried this before as the scents are my absolute favourite!

Citrus is the best scent to wake up to and I love it, so finding a shower gel infused with fresh pink grapefruit juice, grapefruit water, grapefruit oil, bergamot oil and frankincense oil was absolutely perfect for me!

It's an amazing refreshing and uplifting fragrance and super perfect for getting up in the mornings.

I picked up the 250g size but there are also 100g, 500g and 1kg available. For shower gel these are pretty expensive, I know these are vegan but I can't really justify spending over £8 for 250g of product all the time so this is definitely a treat.

I couldn't ever imagine spending £22 on 1kg of shower gel - even if it is absolutely fabulous!

Also, I love the tips on the use of the shower gel!

In short I love this but it would have to be a treat purchase for me. Have you tried Happy Hippy?

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, me and M went to our friend's beautiful baby's christening this weekend and also indulged at the Celtic Manor's Festive Afternoon Tea - post coming very soon!

Today's post is from a shopping trip a few weeks ago to Lush - I picked up quite a few goodies and have been working my way through them. I was sold on Needles and Pine Shower Jelly as soon as I heard it was inspired by Game of Thrones!

Needles and Pine smells of Finnish woodlands and pine trees, courtesy of the Pine Needles and Cypress Leaf Infusion. The smell is so calming and refreshing, it's just like showering outside amongst a forest full of Christmas trees. If you've ever seen the Hunger Games and remember the window that Katniss chooses in the Capitol to look out of during the first film, that's exactly the image you get in your mind.

It also contains Cedarwood Oil and Grapefruit Oil to tone and uplift, it's generally a very refreshing experience!

 A tip that a lot of Lush employees suggested was to freeze the shower jelly, I haven't tried this yet as it has been so cold but I can imagine in the summer this would be a lovely way to start the day or cool down after a day of sunbathing.
It is a bit of a weird item to use though, a ball of jelly that really is squishy and slippery - I've ended up chasing it around my bath and shower quite a few times! It's just like being a kid again with novelty bath items but this one smells much more grown up and why shouldn't you make showering more fun?!

They have a few different Shower Jellies in store including Refresher and 93,000 Miles from their standard range. They also have a special Christmas edition of Santa's Belly, a wonderfully red and glittery shower jelly, and also Snowman which as you can guess is white and shaped like a Snowman. They're pretty good and won't be available for long so snap them up!

The standard range is £3.75 and the festive range is £3.95 each.

On Sunday we posted about our visit to the Lush Cardiff store for their Mother's Day and Easter Event. 

One of the first things we tried was the Yummy Mummy shower gel. It's an amazing purple colour and lathers up really well.

It's got a sweet smell to it almost reminds us of strawberries. It's main ingredients for scent are Brazillian Orange Oil, Tonka Absolute (this contributes to the sweet smell), Carrageenan extract for moisturising and Geranium oil for balancing and toning.

Neither of us have actually tried Lush shower gels before so we were excited to have the product tested on us in store and even more excited when we found it in our goodie bag.

One of the most impressive things we've found is how much the smell lasts. I've never noticed the scent from a shower gel stay on the skin before. It leaves a beautiful after smell which lasts even longer when paired with the Yummy Mummy body conditioner which is a great in the shower moisturiser, perfect for cold mornings when you don't want to wait for a moisturiser to sink in.

M is already planning to buy more to stock up before it gets discontinued! If you've not smelt it head down to your local lush. It's a great one for mum's or as a treat to yourself.

Their mother's day range is so perfect, there are sets ranging in all sizes and with products that smell as good as these why on earth would you go anywhere else??

And have you SEEN the Mother Superior Bubble Bar?? So cute!!

Shower gel can be a bit of a boring topic can't it?

Everyone uses it, most people would just use whatever is on offer during their weekly shop and I'm no different. I have been making my way through my stash and have finally used up the Soap and Glory bottle that seem to last for up to 6 months at a time.

However I couldn't resist picking these up from Nip and Fab, on offer at the moment in Superdrug in a buy one get one free offer. If I'm honest £7.50 is a lot for a shower gel but in a deal like this at £3.75 it didn't seem too bad.

I picked up both the Energy Boost and Detox Blend and have been testing them out.

The Energy Boost Body Wash contains uplifting Lemon, Grapefruit and Sweet Mandarin fragrances. It's a lovely awakening scent which is something to be welcomed in the morning, however it's not as authentic as the Original Source shower gels. I'm a big 'sniffer' of products (if that doesn't sound weird and disgusting) and scents are a big hit or miss for me. This was strangely neither, it had a lot of promise but didn't amount to anything which was a little disappointing.

The packaging is perfect though, colour coded for each scent and just like the rest of the Nip and Fab skincare range which I really like. I also like that all of the info is on the front of the bottles and just on the one sticker. Its funky and draws your eyes to different areas.

The Detox Blend Body Wash contains Tea Tree, Green Tea and Jasmine to purify and detoxify as well as cleanse.
This scent was the same for me, it had lots of promise and whilst I'm grateful that both weren't overpowering (I get headaches from strong smells) they were just a bit too bland and could have had more of a punch, particularly with the lemon.

That said they both lathered up easily courtesy of SLS being the second ingredient in the products. I just feel a bit disappointed with these and can't say I would pay the £3 for them again let alone the full price of £7.50.
I'm a self confessed lover of Nip and Fab but feel like these products have misfired and are a bit 'meh' when compared to other products such as their Viper Venom and Dragon's blood ranges (both of which are fabulous!).

With Original Source recently on offer in Tesco for half price at £1.10 for 250ml or in fact Superdrug who had them for 98p (!) smelling a good ten times better and more authentic than these I know which one I would choose....

I hate to write negative reviews but feel like its necessary sometimes to save another from spending hard earned cash on something that ultimately is a little disappointing - sorry Nip and Fab! It's probably because i have such high expectations from how amazing the skincare range is that this was a bit of a surprise.

Morning campers!

Ooh that sounded happy and chirpy didn't it!

Today's post is on a gift I had from my mum last year for my birthday (FYI almost a year ago....eek!) so I decided it was about time I got my act together and wrote about it as it's such a lovely set.

First of all, who doesn't love a Philosophy gift set? Everyone goes mad for them at Christmas, they have some stunning collections and I always see people going crazy for them in the sales afterwards too.

Their packaging design is unlike anyone else's and I think they're really pretty; the balloon pattern and the bow on top is so cute!

You can see on the side of the box the contents of the gift set; Vanilla Birthday Cake shower gel, bubble bath and shampoo; and Vanilla Birthday Cake lipgloss.

Onto the main star of the show! The Vanilla Birthday Cake is a 240ml bottle of a multi purpose product. Philosophy are famous for this and their design. I love that the front of the bottle contains a recipe for a vanilla birthday cake, its so simple but fun and I'd love to know if it actually works!

This smells really luxurious and sweet, it has a very warm and comforting smell like warm cake from the oven does. It is very creamy and rich and so a little does go a long way, but I did find it hard to get the product out of the bottle as it was quite stiff and as the product is so thick it doesn't move very fast!

The lip gloss is a nice touch to add to a Birthday themed gift; who doesn't love a shiny lip on their birthday!

This looks to be a gold glittery gloss but actually comes out as a clear shimmery gloss. It is perfect to wear on its own and over other lipsticks and will give any look that little something extra.
It is SUPER shiny and I really love wearing it over a red lip like MAC's Russian Red or Kate Moss 107.

This was a lush present to recieve and I've since recommended my mum get it for many other people she knows and they've all loved it too.
This gift retails for £18 and can be found on their website here or at Boots. As I said previously they have updated the packaging to a more grown up blue and yellow design which is just as pretty.
