OPI My Pointe Exactly

Morning All

I'm hopefully back in the swing of my beauty posts! It feels like ages since I've had the time to write properly. The last few weeks have passed in a blur. As the weather is getting worse I found myself drawn to My Point Exactly. I picked up the New York Ballet Mini's collection two years ago at the airport. It was an impulse purchase and I've not really used them all that much.

Untitled

I've not used some of the colours as much as I'd like as they are sheer formulas and I don't always have long natural nails. I'm a nail biter!

Untitled

My Pointe Exactly is a sheer grey polish. It takes a 3 coats to build up to this level of coverage. I really like the finish on this. It's quite a subtle but done look to the nails and great for work when bright nail polish isn't allowed.

Untitled

Grey in this shade isn't a colour I'd usually go for but I did receive a few compliments on it. I think for when my nails are longer I'd like more sheer polishes to try.

Untitled

I find with these thin layers work better and a good top coat. Thick layer just peel off.

These are still available on Amazon.

Have you tried this collection?

NOTD: OPI James Bond Skyfall

Morning lovelies!

I've been cracking out the winter shades over the past few weeks and couldn't resist but share my current favourite with you.
This was one I picked up last year after being obsessed with James Bond, 007 and OPI.

This is OPI's Skyfall.

043

It's a gorgeous deep burgundy colour that look absolutely beautiful against pale skin and darker skin.
I love wearing this colour as it looks great for day time and evening and I've had so many compliments on it.

You can see the colour below in flash and without flash:

045

046

It's a beautiful colour and I've worn it to work and social events with many items of clothing.
These photos were taken with 2 coats of the polish and a top coat applied.

I absolutely love it and imagine it will be used for a long time to come!

047

What are you favourite winter shades for nails? Did you buy any polishes from OPI?

OPI - Oz The Great and Powerful

As well as my naughty purchase the other week when I ordered the OPI Bond Girl Liquid Sands, I also picked up the OPI Oz The Great and Powerful set as well, oops!

I couldn't resist and had heard such great things about the liquid sand in this collection and nudes, particularly from OPI are great for any collection.

014

016
I also love the names, as usual!

I Theodora You is a sheer pink
Glints of Glinda is a classic beige
Don't Burst my Bubble is a sheer white
What Wizardry is This is the liquid sand, a beautiful taupe with a matte shimmer.

First up is What Wizardry is This.

056

This is the liquid sand from the collection and as I said before in the Bond Girl post, I was so unsure of the texture and effect of the liquid sands.
However with the Bond Girl collection and this one I have been completely won over.

This is beautiful in the light, in the dark and in just about any situation possible. The classic taupe colour means it will suit most skin tones and most outfits, but the texture and shimmer bring it bang up to date and wearable to work, lunch dates, pub trips and Saturday nights out.

058

Look at it glimmer!

I Theodora You is the first nude I tried, and it's the sheer pink.

064

I do love nude pinks and this one is a really nice colour, but I think these are a bit too sheer for me.
They'd be perfect for work as they're a 'your nails but better' kind of shade and aren't too opaque to stand out.
However these ones are very sheer, and the photo below shows my nails after 2 coats so I was disappointed with this as theyre still very streaky and I'm not sure further coats would be able to sort this out completely.

065

Next up is Glints of Glinda:

069

The name to me suggests that it should be a glitter which was a little disappointing!
This is actually a classic beige, but again its a sheer polish. This is not as sheer as I Theodora You, and the colour is a lot more consistent.

Again its a 'your nails but better' shade that wouldn't show up too much if you have to be conservative at work.
I can imagine this would be great in winter too as this kind of beige colour will look great with the winter berry colours!

068

Lastly we have Don't Burst my Bubble which is a sheer white.

On first impression this one is very like Essie's Ballet Slippers. I forgot to take a photo after painting my nails with it so below the photos show it with some clear glitter on the ends (oops!)

Untitled

This was after 2 coats and I will definitely use this as its so similar to Ballet Slippers and is probably the one that I will use most out of the nudes.

Untitled

I think I will use Don't Burst my Bubble and What Wizardry is This the most as the liquid sand is so unique and the other is so wearable. I Theodora You and Glints of Glinda were a little disappointing as they were so sheer and out of all the polishes available I think the mini collection could have been a lot more exciting, 3 nudes in one limited edition collection is far too many.

What do you think of the collection? Do you like this many nudes? What do you think of the Liquid Sands?

OPI - 007 Bond Girls Liquid Sands

I've mentioned a few times how obsessed I am with James Bond. And how obsessed i am with nail collections.

Obviously when the Bond Girls Liquid Sands collection came out I had to snap it up.

017

I only picked up the mini collection though (slightly redeeming myself...) which contains 4 out of the 6 polishes. This leaves me wondering why on earth they didn't just do a mini set of all 6, or split it into 3?

I'd have still bought it and most others would too. I love some of them so much I've requested my Americna friend to send some over for me, assuming they get through the post GODDAMN INTERNAITONAL MAIL RULES.

This mini collection contains Jinx (Halle Berry), Vesper (Eva Green), Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman) and Solitaire (Jane Seymour) and all are Liquid Sands, the latest in nail decoration to hit the masses.

018

First up is Jinx.

This is my absolute favourite and request number one from my friend.

Just LOOK at it.

034

It's corally, with a gold shimmer and a beautiful texture.

It looks like fire, and part of me wishes that Hunger Games could get a few of these liquid sand polishes out for the next film as seriously, wouldn't Catching Fire make a great liquid sand polish??

Wondering aside, this beautiful polish was the first Liquid Sand polish that i have tried and subsequently have fallen in love with them all. Sometimes a fad just hits the part where you were wondering why on earth so many variations of nail art existed and you totally understand.

037

It actually mesmerises me and I've put my order in for a full size so I can continue to coo over my own nails like a weirdo!

038

Below shows the first image of Solitaire.

040

Solitaire is a shimmery white liquid sand polish that is described as being a 'diamond white'

Please excuse my appalling application in these pictures as I was far too excited to concentrate.

Diamond White is definitely the correct description for this polish as the silver glitter in it perfectly sets it off.

042

I'm not one to wear a shimmery white polish as it reminds me too much of my nan who thinks she's very cool for wearing it, but i will take all of that back for this beauty. If only i had a tan to set it off with! It would look even better then!

044

Pussy Galore is as you would expect, a cute baby pink shimmer.

This was super easy to apply and was completely foolproof. The others were easy to apply too and mostly I only needed 2 coats for each, but this polish applied like a dream and instantly looked great.

046

I'm also not much of a baby pink girl, I prefer hot pinks and reds but this is a very welcome addition to my collection and will certainly get a lot of use over the summer.

048

I've even worn these to work and haven't had any comments, which is good as my neon colours have caused quite a stir! The Bond colours are clearly more acceptable ha.

050

Below is the final in the collection, Vesper.

In the films, Vesper is one of my favourites. She's so British and I think Eva Green is beautiful, she's also in the first film with Daniel Craig as Bond, which means I love Casino Royale more ;)

This purple perfectly matches the dress she wears in the film.

051

This one was a little harder to apply and I think 3 coats would have been preferable for the perfect finish.

Having said that it is a beautiful aubergine purple and will be perfect for autumn and winter when berry colours take over (possibly my favourite time of year!)

053

You can see in the picture above where the polish looks thinner. It's not so apparent in reality but you can just see it, which means in my opinion that a third coat is needed.

This one is also not glittery which is probably why it shows up flaws more as the light is being diffracted all over place distracting your eyes!

054

Overall as my first mini OPI collection I was very impressed. I also bought the OPI Oz mini collection too which will be in an upcoming post.

Jinx was my ultimate favourite and as I've mentioned I will be getting it in the full size. Pussy Galore and Solitaire are the shock likes in this collection as I didn't think they'd be anything more than pretty nude colours, but I was proved wrong. Vesper will have to be brought back out at winter time as its such a deep purple, but then it will definitely be used and I'm looking forward to it.

Also in the collection is a gold called Honey Ryder (also on my list to come from America!) and Tiffany Case, a really pretty baby blue. I won't be trying Tiffany Case as I'd have to buy the full size to try it, but you never know, I'm a sucker for owning a full collection!

I hadn't thought to try nail art with these yet, but Polish You Pretty did the most amazing ombre effect with Vesper and Honey Ryder that I had to show you....AMAZING!!

What do you think of the Bond Girl collection? Do you like the Liquid Sand effect?

NOTD: OPI James Bond Tomorrow Never Dies

Following on from my previous post last week, here is one of the most beautiful purples I have ever seen.

This is OPI's Tomorrow Never Dies from their James Bond 007 Collection:

 photo 015_zps3d7fce03.jpg

I did take rather a lot of photos of this colour as in every light it seemed to come out a different shade of a beautiful metallic shimmery purple.

 photo 025_zpsf2510832.jpg

In a flash picture it looks a more blue toned purple but above without a flash it looks more like a Cadbury purple, and we all love a Cadbury purple colour!
The reality is somewhat between the two as it does show up differently in different lights.
It's absolutely gorgeous and has been great whilst the evenings were longer and darker and I wanted something more varied than the winter berry colours.

 photo 017_zps41573f8e.jpg

This colour would also look great matt which I tried out but stupidly forgot to take a photo of, silly me!
And I cannot wait to try out some glitter on top, galaxy style nails anyone??

 photo 019_zpsbdd05524.jpg

Tomorrow Never Dies is also one of my most memorable Bond movies from my childhood as I remember my dad watching it.

 photo 020_zpsa5d3366c.jpg

This colour applies opaque in two coats which is what we have come to expect from a brand like OPI.
It's a pretty flawless application - though my photos tell a more revealing story as these were actually taken 3 days after the initial painting.
I'd been to work for 3 days before these photos and still the polish is barely chipped which is nothing short of a miracle working in a lab and my fingers and nails are definitely put through their paces.

 photo 024_zps71904331.jpg

What do you think of Tomorrow Never Dies?
Too much of a Cadbury purple for you or does it make you feel warm and fuzzy inside like it does for me??

NOTD: OPI James Bond Collection 1

So I feel that there is something I need to clear up about me.

I am not the kind of girl who likes films like the Notebook, I don't enjoy crying at films and just honestly don't get much enjoyment out of watching sadness and heartache.
I have seen the Notebook and enjoyed the story, I did feel sad at the end as I'm not a complete heartless bitch but I have no desire to watch it again.

What I personally love is films like Batman, The Avengers and my absolute number 1 currently: James Bond.

I absolutely LOVE the glamour, the Britishness, the fast cars, the fight scenes, the Bond girl's clothing, the exotic countries and obviously Daniel Craig is not hard to look at by any means!
Topping that off is a massive budget for everything and an all star cast which makes the films top notch in my opinion.

Image from Hollywoodlife.com
Obviously OPI bringing out a James Bond collection I was drooling and massively excited as soon as I saw the pictures.
Not having a job was a little detrimental to my plan to purchase them all but spotting them in the ASOS Christmas sale having finally been paid just sealed the deal.
I snapped up 7 of them as some were sold out (and I just couldn't part with that much money just for nail varnish) and so I bring you the first beautiful Bond polish from the collection:

This is the Spy Who Loved Me:

This is a beeeeeeeeeautiful red with gold shimmer through it

How gorgeous is it! The name makes it so much more exotic I know, but even as an all round red polish, the colour and shimmer are gorgeous.

I've been wearing this for weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeks on my toes as it's so easy to reapply and looks good with everything.
It's so beautiful and glittery but not over the top and applies like a dream.
I've worn it to work and been complicated so many times I couldn't tell you, even by men!

Did you pick up any from this collection?? I'm still missing a few but expect some of the others to be featured in posts soon ;)

I previously posted about The Living Daylights which you can see here if you'd like.

Which is your favourite so far?

NOTD: OPI James Bond - The Living Daylights

Today I have an absolute corker of a nail polish for you!

As I have mentioned before I am a bit partial to a James Bond film, and also glitter.

When the Bond range came out just before Christmas I was head over heels in love with it all but unfortunately at the time completely penniless.

I've made a dent in collecting them since getting a job and only have a few more to get now, if anyone knows of anywhere still selling them could you let me know??

So here's my glittery favourite!

This is The Living Daylights.

I have to confess i am yet to see this film, but the nail polish is certainly making me lean towards watching it due its beautiful colours.
This is an unusual glitter containing silver, gold, bronze and teal coloured hexagon shapes.

The light hits off it wherever you are and the colours, though seemingly a bit of a different choice, actually go really well together and due to the different number of metallic glitter particles go with so many outfits!

Even in the bottle it looks like a kaleidoscope and I feel like a magpie looking at it!

It does require 3 coats for a fairly opaque covering but as you can see they are pretty big pieces and it does apply quite easily.

I find I wear this one at the weekends more, as although I do sometimes wear glitter to work this one is a little too over the top for that (unless you work somewhere that has minimal uniform rules!).
This one is best suited to a night out or a weekend out with the girls.

I am wearing it this weekend whilst meeting up with a friend I haven't seen for a while, so looking forward to it!

Have you tried this polish or any of the other Bond polishes? Do you love collections from films like this?

I'm a sucker for them and I also wanted the Snow White Diego Della Palma palette, and will hopefully getting my hands on the Urban Decay Oz palettes.....but we will see!
